What is Pony Club?

Formed in 1929 in response to a growing interest in riding and the care of horses and ponies. It is now the largest association for in the world.

Pony Club Objectives

  • To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding
  • To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instill in members the proper care of ponies
  • To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby strengthening of character and self-dicipline

 

Why Would Your Child Benefit From Being a Member?

Being a member allows the opportunity for children who ride at riding schools to progress their riding and stable management knowledge through the structure laid down in The Pony Club.

All Pony Club instructors are qualified and very experienced people who have access to one of the finest youth training organisations in the world.

Pony Club is the 4th largest youth organisation in the United Kingdom !!!

Insurance

As a member of the Pony Club your child is automatically insured for personal (third party) liability arising from equestrian activities up to a limit of indemnity of £30,000,000.

 

Progressive Tests

The progressive tests are taken in modules at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, in both horsemanship and riding.

The tests are designed to be relaxed and flexible and can be taken alongside The Pony Club efficiiency tests. Achievement in all sections will result in a Bronze, Silver or Gold badge.

The Pony Club Efficiency Tests

This is the structure around which The Pony Club Training is based. The tests start at basic level (D) and progress until they makeexempt holders from various levels of professional qualifications. The four progressive tests (above) fit in between the efficiency tests to complement the learning progress.

These tests are internationally regonised standards of attainment

Achievement Badges

These are designed to improve the knowledge of the youngest members of The Pony Club in matters within the countryside and horsemanship.

There are 29 badges at the moment the may be awarded. Members are encouraged to collect as many badges as possible and to have them sewn on their on their Pony Club jumpers.

Other Activities

Pony Club Centres may also run all kinds of fun activities from competitons and camps to social events for Pony Club Members.

How Much Does It Costs?

  • The anual subscription is £20. This is paid to The Pony Club and is renewable anually.
  • All the Pony Club activities will be charged for, the costs of these are decided by each Pony Club Centre, but are very reasonable.
